Here is what the house looks like from the outside, completed. They are done sheet rocking and will start texturing the ceiling and walls tomorrow. Hoping to start painting next week, that is if I can't get off to go out to Wyoming with mom for the Adoption Hearing :-) It doesn't look as big with the walls in. I have set in my mind a move in date of October 13th-15th. I hope this is do-able. Depends on the cupboards and flooring.

House update

Here is the latest pics that I have. They will be working on getting the sheet rock up in the basement, mudding and taping, then texturing the walls.  My cupboards are about three weeks out, and the carpet/flooring people are coming on Friday to measure. It is now not going fast enough for me.  I can hardly believe that God has given us such blessing!!  Still kind of hard to believe that it is MY home.

The first pic is our backyard.  The second is the north end of the house.  The third one is my kitchen (there is a pantry on the left). And the last one is the view from the doorway of the livingroom looking south.

House is Started!!

Well, the time has finally arrived to start our new home! I can hardly believe it still. They have gotten the basement walls and floor poured and also the garage footing. The crew working on it has had to work on another project the last couple of days, but should be back tomorrow. I will attach a few of the pics.

Graduation

Well, It is official! I have passed my MN State Boards and am now considered a Registered Nurse! It was not fun waiting over the weekend to find out the results of my test, but it went fast.

Next Monday I start working at Pleasant View in St. James as a case manager. I will work 2 days 8-4:30 and 2 days 3-11 (on the floor). I would have loved to work at a hospital, but Windom (where I wanted to work) is not needing any RN's at the current time. Maybe in a few years when Tyler is graduated, then I will feel like I can drive a ways to a job, but if I did that now, I would never be home!

I will try to post a few pics of my graduation ceremony for you.

Our tri-barn is finally back into service. We started getting pigs last Wednesday. It has seemed like a long struggle to get it finished. Now if we can just finish up with the insurance company and be done with that headache.

We are hoping to start digging for the house sometime this week. The contractor who will be doing it is going to have surgery after the 22nd, so he wants the basement done by then. Praying for a speedy digging. I will try to keep posted some pics of the progress.

Entering for the ceremony

Receiving my diploma

walking back to my chair, Laura came and got a pic

this is probably 3/4of the graduating nursing class

These are the girls that I pretty much was with throughout the whole thing. A couple are missing.

Spring!!

WOW! Has is been a long time?!  So much has happened.  For starters, we had a snowstorm from February 28th to March 3.  During that time, on Friday to be exact, our new hog barn roof collapsed.  It has been very stressful for us here since then.  On Monday, the 19th they started clean up.  As of yesterday, the 28th, they have to roof back on and the inside ceiling back in place.  Next week will start the electricians.  I think that they will have one of the biggest jobs, because they will have to untangle all that mess!   We are planning on getting pigs back in there by June 1st.  Should be no problem.

I have some pictures, but they are on my other computer so I will have to log off and go on that one.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I can't believe it is 2007 already. It seems like just yesterday that we were all gathered together for the big 2000 shut down because computers weren't going to be able to adjust to the 20 format! How silly.

Well we finally got some snow! It is only about 2-3 inches, but the wind blew so the kids can ride snowmobile in the ditches. How excited they are for that.

Everyone here is healthy except for the occasional cold. Tyler is suffering through one right now, but it has not slowed him down at all so it is not too bad.

We all had a good Christmas. It comes faster every year, I swear. I am glad that it is over, now, so we can get back to a semi-normal life.

The count down for me is now offically started. One more semester left of school. I am really excited about that. Can't believe it has been 3 years that I have been in school. I am debating about specializing in phlebotomy (putting in IV's and taking blood) but have not totally decided on that. It would mean one more year of schooling. Maybe I will just work for a while, and then where ever I work will put me through classes for that.

The barns are going good. Shane is now helping Brent with the chores and is helping us load. He said that he will wash them when they are empty because he needs the money. Pray for him because he just doesn't know what he wants to do with his life yet. He wants to farm, he is thinking about going to South Central College next fall for Agronomy, and there are other things we are kicking around right now about his future. It is soooo hard being 18!!

As you probably know, we were to Arizona in November to see my maternal grandmother. She passed away on the 28th of that same month. We enjoyed visiting with her one last time. We also went up to see the Grand Canyon while there. The kids enjoyed seeing that wonder!

God Bless your 2007.

Schooltime

WOW, summer is almost over!!  I can't believe it.  I don't think we got to hardly enjoy it.  We had been busy getting all the barns full from July 10th up until August 21st.  It seems like that is all we did all summer.

We did get a chance to go to Valleyfair on Sunday afternoon as a family.  It was great fun.

Wyatt will be leaving tomorrow (the 30th) for about 3 months.  We sure will miss him while he is gone.  It will seem strange without him here for the fall harvest.

School starts on September 5th for Laura and the 6th for Tyler.  We have not hardly started school shopping yet!!  That is all I have been hearing for the past 2 weeks.  Just haven't had time.  I started school last Thursday with a full day of orientation at Worthington.  I am ready to get my last year done.  I just wish that the kids were back in school already too so they wouldn't bother my study sessions.  Oh well, that will be soon enough.

Shane decided that he was not ready to go to college yet.  He just didn't know what he wanted to study.  I told him that if he wasn't sure, then that was okay.  I would rather not waste the money.

That is about all from Minnesota for now.

Summertime

I can't believe it is already almost the end of July!!  Time is sure flying this summer.

The kids have been great this summer so far.  We all have been soooo busy with the new hog barn site that they don't really have time to fight with each other.  They would like to sleep in a couple of days, but I tell them that won't happen until both sites are full which won't be until the middle of August.

Our newest site is great!!  We really like having everything under one roof.  It is very convenient and we really like it.  I don't have a camera, so I can't post any pics right now.  It will be full by next Monday or Tuesday with 7600 pigs in it.  Then we will start filling Site #1.  With this hot weather we are going to be getting (100 by Sunday), we are glad we will have only baby pigs and no big ones!!

That is about all our news from here.  We each have taken our turns with a summer cold.  Laura went to camp last week.  Tyler and Laura both have their last ball games this Saturday (finally).  Shane and Wyatt are both attending AA/NA meetings regularly and things seem to be settling down.  It is very hard to trust again and not to worry.  Shane has court on August 9th.  We don't think too much will come of that.  I will post if anything comes from it.

Senior Prom

Shane's senior prom was a hit.  He is glad that he went.  I got voted on being a chaperone for the After-Prom party, so I asked Shelly if she would go along with me so I would have someone to talk to.  We rented a Charter bus and took the kids up to Coon Rapids to a place called "Grand Slam USA".  It had indoor batting cages, mini golf, bumper cars, laser tag, Go Karts and an arcade.  I think the kids all had fun.  The worst part was the long bus ride.

I will attach a few pictures that I have for you to see.

The barns are coming along.  They are laying the slats today (and yesterday).  They should be able to start framing next week!  How exciting!  Now, to just get through graduation and planting!!.......
